Munich/Vienna - A man suspected of having killed and dismembered a salesman in Munich was arrested in Austria, the Munich police said Wednesday.

The victim's arms were found last Friday in the Isar river in the German state of Bavaria, while the torso of the 35-year-old man was found in the Czech Republic.

The alleged killer is a German national born in 1969, an Austrian police official told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

The suspect was caught near Nickelsdorf on the Hungarian border on Tuesday evening, according to Austrian press agency APA.

Munich - German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich on Tuesday announced that midfielder Alexander Baumjohann will be joining them for next season.

The 22-year-old joins the former Champions League winners on a free transfer from Borussia Moenchengladbach. He signed a three-year contract.

"I believe I can make it in Munich, otherwise I would not have accepted the offer. I will receive a chance and then it is up to me to use it," said Baumjohann, who has played
18 Bundesliga games for Schalke 04 and Moenchengladbach.

Munich - A strike over pay crippled public transport in Munich and seven other cities in the southern German state of Bavaria on Tuesday, union officials said.

Up to 900 workers walked off their jobs at the start of the early shift, affecting subway, tram and bus services, a spokesman for the service union Verdi said.

In Munich, public transport authorities operated a skeleton service of 200 buses provided by private operators as subway stations remained closed throughout the morning.

Munich - France defender Willy Sagnol Monday announced he was quitting football after failing to recover from injury.

"Because of the pain it is no longer possible for me to play football. It's something I have to accept," the 31-year-old Bayern Munich right-back said.

Sagnol has been plagued by an Achilles tendon injury and has not played since appearing for France at Euro 2008.

"I would have liked to have continued for another couple of years but my body has made the decision," Sagnol said.
