Will Congress suspend Margaret Alva?
Congress is expected to take strict and immediate action against AICC General Secretary Margaret Alva.
According to party sources, there is a greater probability that Alva could be suspended and Sonia Gandhi might accept her resignation.
This became apparently clear after AK Antony, chairman of the party’s disciplinary action committee, met Sonia on the matter.
Alva came out in public before few days alleging that party tickets were “sold” for the Karnataka elections.
Earlier party spokesman Veerappa Moily said that “The Congress will definitely take disciplinary action against her."
“We don’t know whether it was voluntary, involuntary or deliberate. But the end result is the same — a gross violation of discipline," Moily added.
AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi also joined leaders like Digvijay Singh and Ashok Gehlot in refuting Alva’s charges.
Party sources further said that, it had become untenable even if her outbursts were considered “emotional”.
