Tokyo stocks end morning mixed ahead of earnings reports
Tokyo - Tokyo stocks ended Friday morning trading mixed ahead of corporate earnings reports. The benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average was down 29.05 points, or 0.33 per cent, to 8,817.96.
But the broader Topix index of all first-section issues inched up 1.73 points, or 0.21 per cent, to 841.23.
Stocks moved narrowly in Tokyo as investors adopted a wait-and-see attitude ahead of Japanese firms releasing their earnings reports.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar traded at 97.84-89 yen, down from Thursday's 5 pm quote of 98.14-17 yen.
The euro traded at 1.3126-31 dollars, up from late Thursday's quote of 1.3008-11 dollars, and at 128.45-50 yen, up from 127.69-73 yen. (dpa)
