TMC razes 11 illegal villas on Yeoor Hills
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) demolished 11 bungalows (the count obtained when the reports last came in) of the 19 illegal bungalows, on Friday.
The action came in the wake of a notice issued recently by the Bombay High Court, seeking the status report of the action taken against illegal bungalows at Yeoor Hills within a week.The notice was in response to a writ petition filed by local tribal leader Chandrakant Jadhav at the High Court.
BG Pawar, additional municipal commissioner (anti-encroachments), said, "The court has sought a report from the TMC regarding the action taken against illegal structures in Yeoor Hills which falls under the Vartak Nagar jurisdiction. The TMC will soon conduct a survey of the entire area."
He added, "Any damage to the trees, during demolition, invokes the ire of the forest department,"
