Prince Harry may join aid expedition on international humanitarian disasters

London, Oct.12 : An NGO, which has Britain’s Prince Harry as its patron, has come up with a plan to send him on an international expedition focussed on helping during humanitarian disasters.

According to The Scotsman, the 23-year-old royal, who missed out on going to Iraq with the army, may undertake a mission with MapAction.

Clarence House said no deployment had been confirmed, but it did not rule out Harry’s involvement with the project.

"It's an idea we'd like to think is possible, but there are no definite plans," a spokesman said. "Harry would love to go."

MapAction provides up-to-date maps for aid workers in times of disaster. They work to highlight areas where medical help is needed.

Last night the prince attended a reception to mark 50 missions since Map Action's first to Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the 2004 tsunami.

Roger Wedge, of MapAction, said: "We're hoping the Prince may be able to deploy with us. There may be some difficulties but we're training him up." (ANI)
