Pak captain-coach share different thoughts on UAE pitches

Pak captain-coach share different thoughts on UAE pitchesLahore, Apr. 10 : Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam and captain Younis Khan have different views about playing conditions and pitches in the UAE.

While Alam, recently, visited Abu Dhabi and Dubai to inspect the pitches for the series against Australia, and said Pakistan will have an advantage over the visiting team, Khan made it clear that performance will matter even if provided home conditions in the UAE.

After inspecting the pitches in the two cities where five one-day internationals and a Twenty20 match is to be played, Alam looked pleased with the preparations.

"The wickets in Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been prepared keeping in mind our own strengths. We want to retain some kind of home advantage," Alam said.

Khan, on the other hand, stressed on the need of hundred percent performance by the players if the world champions are to be challenged.

He said too much was being made on playing conditions and the pitches.

"I am sure the pitches at both venues will produce high quality cricket as they are good for one-day matches. We expect them to be batting wickets but sporting ones," The Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.

Interestingly, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sent special soil from Nandipur (Pakistan), and its curators to prepare pitches in the UAE. (ANI)
