Workers injured in chemicals incident in Bosch plant in Germany
Bamberg, Germany - More than 100 workers at a plant owned by motor industry supplier Bosch in the southern German city of Bamberg fell ill and were treated for breathing difficulties and nausea Friday after coming into contact with rust-prevention chemicals.
Local emergency services said one worker had reported symptoms at around 2.00 am, and others had followed over the succeeding hours. The workers were reported not to be in serious danger.
There was no danger to people in the vicinity of the plant, police said.
The accident occurred in a hall where 160 staff were working on a production line along which parts were being treated with chemicals before being packed in plastic foil.
Production was stopped and then resumed after 6 am (0400 GMT). (dpa)
