Michigan gubernatorial candidate claims theft of radio ads
He is certain four commercials posted on an anti-Cox Web site were stolen, says a campaign spokesman for Michigan gubernatorial candidate Mike Cox.
The Detroit News reported on Wednesday that spokesman Nick DeLeeuw said he's sure the radio spots were taken without anyone's knowledge or permission, not uploaded by supporters to the YouTube channel AnyOneButCox.
The ads involve criticism of Cox during his investigation into a party at former Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick's Manoogian mansion that reportedly featured an exotic dancer who was later shot to death.
The News further said that Bill Ballenger, publisher of the newsletter Inside Michigan Politics, said the ads are well crafted but he dismissed the idea of anyone within the Cox camp stealing and posting the ads.
He said Cox would probably want to stay away from anything relating to the incident at the mansion.
He further said, "Frankly, I don't see any upside. As long as we're talking about the Manoogian Mansion, (Cox) wants to change the subject."
According to the News, DeLeeuw said an attorney is being brought in and there may be an investigation into the alleged theft. (With Inputs from Agencies)
