Hong Kong shares rebound by 2 per cent after two-day losing streak

Hong Kong - Hong Kong shares climbed by more than 2 per cent Thursday, ending a two-day losing streak that saw around 900 points wiped off the stock market.

The blue-chip Hang Seng Index rose 336.01 points, or 2.26 per cent, from a two-month low to end Thursday at 15,214.46. Turnover was 52.6 billion Hong Kong dollars (6.78 billion US dollars).

The rise in share prices came despite a steep fall in the value of telecom company PCCW Ltd after a Hong Kong court blocked its privatization plan which it said discriminated against minority shareholders.
