IPL submits re-revised schedule to Home Ministry

IPL submits re-revised schedule to Home MinistryNew Delhi, Mar 17 : Organisers of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday submitted a re-revised tournament schedule to the Union Home Ministry.

The action was taken after the Home Ministry advised IPL organisers that it may not be possible to hold the Twenty20 series as per its previous revised schedule.

The Home Ministry has now forwarded this new schedule to the respective State Governments to seek their views on the new dates.

The Ministry has made it clear that any decision on the matter would be taken only if the State Governments respond favourably to the new schedule.

A meeting between the Home Ministry and the BCCI officials on Monday ended without resolution with the Ministry making it clear that it was not in a position to spare para-military forces because of the Lok Sabha elections.

A three-member BCCI team, led by Secretary N. Srinivasan, met Special Secretary (Internal Security) Raman Srivastava here.

Srivastava told the BCCI officials that the organisers should work out a new schedule in consultation with the State Governments where the matches are to be played. (ANI)
