Cape Town (South Africa), Mar. 19 : Australia have made clear their intentions to push hard for a 3-0 sweep of their Test series against South Africa by suggesting that stand-in Proteas skipper Jacques Kallis has "enough on his plate".

Kallis quit as vice-captain in 2007 after being left out of Proteas'' squad for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup.

The 33-year-old is the only South African in Test cricket''s 10,000-run club and has also taken 258 wickets at 30.88 in 130 matches, as well as being one of the game''s finest slips fielders.

London, Mar 19: Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard insists that his club fears nobody left in the competition ahead of Friday’s Champions League draw for the quarterfinals.

Gerrard reckons Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are quaking in their boots at the prospect of being paired with Liverpool.

The Reds lived up to their ranking as the number one team in Europe after sweeping Real Madrid aside 5-0 on aggregate in the round of 16.

Los Angeles  - The short-handed Boston Celtics rode the hot hand of Paul Pierce to shoot them over the finish line.

Pierce poured in 21 of his 36 points in the fourth quarter and overtime, and the Celtics beat the Miami Heat 112-108 on Wednesday night to clinch their second straight Atlantic Division title.

Sydney, Mar. 19: Riding high on scintillating centuries by captain Haidee Tiffen and Suzie Bates, New Zealand entered their third World Cup final defeating Pakistan by a mammoth 223 runs here.

Bates blasted Pakistani bowlers to all parts of the ground while making a brilliant 168 of just 105 balls, while skipper Tiffen scored her maiden century to propel their team to a challenging total of 373 runs.

Both shared a record partnership of 262 runs. Their total was the third highest in Women’s World Cups and the sixth highest overall in women''s cricket.

Sydney, Mar. 19: The Australian cricket team has not resolved all of their difficulties and nor is the side settled, but it is hungry for success, not to speak of it being fearless and hard to subdue, claims cricket columnist Peter Roebuck.

In an article for the Sydney Morning Herald, Roebuck says that while at present, the scoreline stands at 3-2 in favour of Australia, there is a need to carry out a fair reflection of the play.

Hamilton, Mar. 19 : A dominant India on Thursday were just a run short of New Zealand's total of 279 in their first innings in the first Test being played at Seddon Park in Hamilton, thanks to three half centuries from the blades of Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

At close of play on the second day of the Test, Sachin Tendulkar was unbeaten on 70, with eleven boundaries, while southpaw Yuvraj Singh was keeping him company on eight.
